About Al Garcia
Al Garcia may be a Flint native, but after living in Maine for 33 years, he is proud to call New England home. He moved to Lansing 3 years ago and ever since, he's been helping to transform Michigan's country scene into something exciting and unforgettable.
Al's love for music has seen many transitions over the years. He remembers his dad introducing him to Mariachi and Tejano Mexican music along with Freddy Fender, Johnny Rodriquez and others. In his teenage years it was Bob Segar and the 80's pop rock that he would enjoy.
Al was introduced to the Grateful Dead when he moved to Maine and that ignited a wildfire which led to dozens of shows. A friend took him to his first Dead show at Oxford Plains Speedway in the back woods of Maine. One summer Al and some friends took a month off work to travel the East coast to follow the Dead. DC, Boston, Philly, Albany, Buffalo and a few other stops!
Fast forward to today and Al's music journey has come full circle. He is the proud dad of 3 young adult children. Hannah, Andrew and Dominic as well as daughter-in law-Kay.
Al has worked in the addiction and mental health field for 35 years and is currently a Case Manager at a substance use disorder program in Lansing. He lives in Old Town Lansing with his partner JR who is works in the country radio industry.
When he arrived in Lansing, Al noticed a gap in the local country scene. If you wanted to listen to some live country music, you would have to drive to Detroit or Grand Rapids. Local venues like The Whiskey Barrel, Tequila Cowboys and The Junction had closed, and the local country crowd had nowhere to go.
So Al got to work.
He created Michigan Country Entertainment - a growing network built to support and showcase country artists, bands, and fans across the state.
Whether it's booking shows, connecting artists, bands or simply giving musicians a platform, MCE is helping bring back real country music back to Michigan.
With a blend of big-name acts and rising stars, Al's passion project has grown into one of the strongest collections of young country artists in the Midwest.
Al is proud to be asked to help coordinate the music acts for the Country Roads Music Festival this summer. MCE is proud to have 11 solo artists and bands playing at Country Roads. The Festival will have headliners Restless Road, Colt Ford and Drew Baldridge playing throughout the weekend. Along with his favorite band from back home in Maine, 12/OC.
Al is not stopping anytime soon.
He's on a mission to bring the best country music right to your town-right to your bar, event or festival. Whether it's a local fundraiser, downtown block party, wedding or packed arena show, Al and his team at MCE bring energy, talent and heart to every show.
And who knows? With the right support, you just might see an MCE artist
playing Ford Field, Little Caesars Arena, or Van Andel one day.
So if you're looking for authentic, crowd-rocking country music-look no further than Michigan Country Entertainment. When you book an MCE artist, you're not just hiring a band, you're bringing a movement!
