About Al Garcia

Al Garcia is a native of Flint Michigan but called Portland Maine home for over 30 years before coming to Lansing 3 years ago.

Garcia loves many different genres of music. Starting at a young age, Garcia remembers his father playing TexMex country music such as Freddy Fender and Johnny Rodriquez along with old school country like Johnny Cash, George Jones and Dolly Parton. In his teen years it was Bob Seger and others from the 1980’s who shaped his musical tastes.

That all changed when after moving to Maine a friend turned him on to the Grateful Dead. In 1989, Garcia experienced his first Dead show at the Oxford Speedway in the back woods of Maine. That led to 25 shows in a short 3 to 4 years. Garcia and a few friends took a month off work follow the Dead up and down the east coast. It was definitely a month to remember.

After having 3 kids, music sort of changed to what ever the kids wanted, Aaron Carter, American Idol Live and a few others were now the concerts to go to!

Al has 3 grown children Hannah, Andrew and Dominic and daughter in law Kay.

Al whose full time job as a Case Manager at an Addiction Clinic and his partner JR live in Old town Lansing.

Al started MCE as a Face Book page “Lansing Country Music Scene” to generate some interest in the Lansing area.  Once he moved here he realized he needed to travel to Grand Rapids of Detroit to see any type of good country music. The Silver Dollar or Whiskey Barrel had closed and there was no real place to go have a cold one and enjoy country music.

After becoming friends with some country bands and expanding his reach. Al expanded his page to what has grown into Michigan Country Entertainment. Promoting state wide bands and solo artists, booking at venues around the state and was hired to help the with music for the County Roads music festival, the newest and largest country music festival in Michigan. Eleven of those performing at the festival will be artists from the MCE roster of artists.

Michigan Country Entertainment has grown into the best group of young artists in the state and we want to bring Michigan country to your town.

Al is proud to work with such hard working talented artists. Their hard work and dedication to their craft is second to none. Al goes to big concerts almost weekly and one day he would love to see someone from his team play at Ford Field, Little Caesars Arena or Van Andel.  With continued hard work, it could be possible.
